Andrew Keith Marquard
Andrew is a Senior Researcher at the University of Cape Town. He has a BA in African Politics from UCT, a BA (Honours) degree in political studies (cum laude) from Rhodes University, an MA in Political Studies and a PhD which was awarded in 2006. After a period of post-doctoral research on South Africa’s electrification programme at the Management Programme in Infrastructure Reform and Regulation (MIR) at UCT’s Graduate School of Business, he was appointed as a Senior Researcher in energy and climate change mitigation policy at the Energy Research Centre of UCT. Andrew is a senior member of South Africa’s delegation to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and a lead co-ordinator of the African Group of Negotiators on Climate Change (for transparency and reporting negotiations). His research activities have employed a variety of methodological and disciplinary approaches, from quantitative analysis and modelling to policy, political and institutional analysis.
