George Odera Outa
George is a ‘multi-discipline’ scholar currently based at the Institute for Climate Change and Adaptation, University of Nairobi. He is a Law graduate of the University of London (UK) and the University of California-Hastings (USA) and earlier, ‘Tothil Prestige Scholar’ at the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa) where he also received a PhD degree in Literature. For close to 15 years George served in various advisory capacities in and outside Kenya under United Nations Development Programme’s various recruitment modalities; was Communications and External Relations advisor for the global Sustainable Blue Economy Secretariat as well as for the sixth session of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development. He has taught and examined a wide range of courses at the University of Nairobi since 1988 and is the recipient of various prestigious awards, among them the St Andrews (UK) Prize for the Environment (2001) and the Governance in East Africa Research Awards (1993). He has consulted for a number of blue chip companies and international organisations operating in Kenya and Africa more broadly.
