Bruno Merven

Bruno has been working in the field of energy modelling and planning since 2005. He is competent in a range of energy modelling platforms including: TIMES, MARKAL, MESSAGE, LEAP, Matlab, GAMS, R, Python, and Analytica. At the Energy Systems Research Group at the University of Cape Town, he has worked on several models of the national energy system, with a large focus on the linking of the groups energy systems model (SATIM) to the groups CGE model (eSAGE). He has also been involved in several projects for the IAEA doing capacity building in power sector modelling in several countries across Africa. He is the core developer of the power pool sector model for IRENA (SAPP, WAPP, and ACEC [SAPP+EAPP]).
